They say there’s nothing like a good education. So we’re thrilled that The Wardrobe Assembly’s hit comedy Education, Education, Education is making its way to the West End this summer.
Set in the ’90s, you can take a walk back through time when Britain was changing – for the better, it would seem. As Great Britain wins the Eurovision Song Contest and Tony Blair becomes Prime Minister, the country seems different… positive… happy. But at the local secondary school, it’s a different story. It’s the last week of term and Tobias – the new German language assistant – has just arrived in the UK. While political change occurs outside of the classroom, a revolution slowly starts to take place within it. Tobias is greeted by a group of eccentric schoolteachers just trying to make it through the day, including Miss Belltop-Doyle who can’t control her Year 10s and Mr Pashley who is trying to keep a confiscated Tamagotchi alive.
In addition to throw-back, pop-culture references like the Teletubbies and The Macarena, Education, Education, Education is packed full of ’90s hits from the likes of Oasis, Katrina And The Waves, The Spice Girls, and more.
The cast will include: Tom Brennan (Paul McIntyre), Ben Vardy (Tim Pashley), Jesse Meadows (Susan Belltop-Doyle), Emily Greenslade (Emily Greenslade), James Newton (Tobias), and Tom England (Hugh Mills). Further casting will be announced later.
The whip-smart comedy which won The Scotsman Fringe First Award and The Stage Edinburgh Award will play at Trafalgar Studios for a limited four-week run from 31 May – 29 June.
