Darrell D’Silva and Trevor Fox will play friends of 20 years in the world premiere of Matthew Dunster’s latest play Children’s Children.
They are joined in the drama, which runs at the Almeida theatre from 17 May, by Emily Berrington, Beth Cordingly, John MacMillan and Sally Rogers.
Children’s Children is the story of Michael and Gordon, who have been best friends since acting college. 20 years on, Michael is Mr Saturday Night, but Gordon is struggling with enormous debts. Gordon’s daughter couldn’t care less and is far more interested in the film her boyfriend is making. When Gordon asks Michael for a loan, cracks start to appear in the characters’ relationships.
D’Silva takes to the Almeida’s stage having spent the last three years as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s long ensemble, taking the title role in Anthony And Cleopatra. Fox has enjoyed a similar spell of time with one show, having starred in The Pitmen Painters at the National Theatre, on Broadway and at the Duchess theatre.
Cordingly returns to the London stage having recently appeared in A Round Heeled Woman, Rogers has credits including The Duchess Of Malfi and Billy Liar at the National Theatre, while Berrington is currently in her final year of study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
MacMillan returns to the Almeida, where he previously appeared alongside Douglas Henshall and Joseph Mawle in The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot.
Children’s Children opens at the Islington venue following the run of current show Filumena, which stars Samantha Spiro as a mistress on her deathbed who makes a remarkable recover once she is married.
