Dirty Rotten Scoundrels extends to 2015

Robert Lindsay, Rufus Hound and Katherine Kingsley will continue to entertain West End audiences next year after Dirty Rotten Scoundrels The Musical announced it is extending its run to 7 March 2015.

Jerry Mitchell’s hit production, which is based on the 1988 film starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin, was originally booking at the Savoy Theatre until November.

Starring Olivier Award winner Lindsay as sophisticated conman Lawrence Jameson, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels The Musical transports audiences to the luxurious lap of the French Riviera where Lawrence’s world is set to come crashing down as he goes head to head with the larger-than-life Freddy Benson to win the affections of millionaire soap heiress Christine Colgate.

The production, which opened to critical acclaim last month, was described by The Telegraph’s Charles Spencer as “a highly entertaining and slickly staged show”, while The Guardian’s Michael Billington labelled it “a prime, and highly pleasurable, example of the musical as escapist fantasy and source of fun”.

Talking about the reaction from both the public and critics, the Ambassador Theatre’s Group’s CEO and Creative Director said: “We are thrilled with the audience and critical reaction to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Night after night packed houses raise the roof with laughter and leap to their feet with applause for this new musical comedy.”

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Mitchell, the production’s cast also includes Samantha Bond, John Marquez, Lizzy Connolly, Gavin Alex, Darren Bennett, Niamh Bracken, Lisa Bridge, Darren Carnall, Andy Conaghan and Phoebe Coupe.
