It may have happened millions of years ago but the Jurassic period is proving more popular than ever as the Regent Park Open Air theatre’s summer hit Dinosaur Zoo heads to the West End this festive season.
Bringing to life a range of creatures, from baby dinos to teeth-gnashing giants, using ingenious life-size puppetry, Dinosaur Zoo will play at the Phoenix theatre from 27 November to 12 January.
The family show, which contributed to the success of the alfresco venue’s 2013 season, playing alongside fellow hits The Sound Of Music and To Kill A Mockingbird, is created by Australian company Erth and has delighted audiences all over the world with its gigantic beasts.
Audience members aged three and older, who are brave enough to get up close and personal with the ancient creatures, will be allowed on stage to assist the zoo keeper with the daily tasks needed to look after the creatures. Those unable to join the dinosaurs on stage during the show are invited to meet them afterwards.
Combining entertaining humour with adventurous daring and informative learning, Dinosaur Zoo will play daytime performances alongside the altogether different Once, which will continue to tell its touching tale of an Irish busker and Czech girl who fall in love through a shared love of music during the winter evenings.
