The current West End production of Di And Viv And Rose will come to a premature close at the Vaudeville Theatre, ending its run almost six-weeks early on 14 March.
Amelia Bullmore’s comedy, which stars Tamzin Outhwaite, Samantha Spiro and Jenna Russell, enjoyed two successful runs at the Hampstead Theatre in 2011 and 2013 before transferring to the West End last month.
Announcing its closure, the show’s producers said: “We are immensely proud to have brought Amelia Bullmore’s funny and heartfelt play Di And Viv And Rose to the West End. Despite great acclaim from critics and a hugely positive reaction from audiences, the West End can be an unpredictable place and transferring a new play has its risks. We’d like to thank our hugely talented cast and creative team for all of their hard work as well as the audiences who have supported the production from the start.”
Described by Official London Theatre’s Matthew Amer as “An absolute treat”, the show is a hilarious and thoughtful exploration of friendship’s impact on life and life’s impact on friendship that focuses on the lives of three women who joined forces at university.
The production, which is directed by Anna Mackmin, closes prior to the upcoming runs of one-man show Just Jim Dale (26 May to 20 June) and Adrian Noble’s David Suchet-led production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance Of Being Earnest (24 July to 7 November).
