UPDATE 10/9: Please note that Denise’s return to the Chicago cast has been delayed due to injury.
The stars just keep on coming back to Chicago: Denise Van Outen will join the West End cast of the hit musical from Monday 24 September.
The announcement marks an exciting return to the production for Denise, who previously played Roxie Hart in the West End and on Broadway.
The actress, TV presenter and performer – often to be seen on ITV’s Loose Women, and who reached the 2012 final of Strictly Come Dancing – will star alongside Alexandra Burke as Roxie Hart, Duncan James as Billy Flynn, Mazz Murray as Mama Morton, and Paul Rider as Amos Hart
Denise’s other West End credits include Tell Me On A Sunday, Legally Blonde, Rent, and her one woman show, Some Girl I Used to Know.
Chicago, the internationally acclaimed Kander & Ebb musical, returned to the West End in March earlier this year, having originally played in London for 15 years.
Set in prohibition Chicago, Chicago tells the story of two rival performers – and murderesses – locked up in the same County Jail, and satirises corruption within the criminal justice system. Its numerous hit songs include All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango and Razzle Dazzle.
The show is booking at the Phoenix Theatre until 5 January 2019.
