David Haig joins West End Guys And Dolls

David Haig and Siubhan Harrison will join Sophie Thompson and Jamie Parker when Chichester Festival Theatre’s acclaimed production of Guys And Dolls transfers to London’s Savoy Theatre.

Haig, the star of West End hits including Mary Poppins and Yes, Prime Minister, will play Nathan Detroit, with Harrison (From Here To Eternity The Musical, Earthquakes In London) as Sarah Brown, when the musical begins its run in the capital on 10 December. The casting reunites Haig with Thompson for the first time since they played bride and groom Lydia and Bernard in hit Brit flick Four Weddings And A Funeral.

Haig and Foster replace the original Chichester stars, Peter Polycarpou and Clare Foster in the roles for the London transfer.

One of the world’s favourite musical comedies, Guys And Dolls tells the story of Nathan Detroit (Haig) a gambler desperately hunting cash to stage an illegal dice game while trying to placate his fiancée of 14 years, nightclub singer Miss Adelaide (Thompson). Detroit spots a money making opportunity in Sky Masterson (Parker) who sets him the challenging of romancing the straight-laced missionary Sarah Brown (Siubhan Harrison), which is tricky, to say the least.

The latest London revival of the Frank Loesser musical is directed by Gordon Greenberg and features choreography by Carlos Acosta and Andrew Wright.

It follows another Chichester hit, Gypsy, into the Savoy Theatre. The Imelda Staunton-led production, which was recently nominated for a brace of UK Theatre Awards, ends its London run on 28 November.
