Model, actress and writer Sophie Dahl will be appearing at Polka theatre on 22 January to talk about her experiences growing up as the granddaughter of Roald Dahl, whose story The BFG is currently being staged at the theatre.
Dahl, who was the inspiration for the character of Sophie in her grandfather’s tale of the Big Friendly Giant, will be talking to David Wood, the children’s playwright who has adapted many of the late author’s books for the stage, including James And The Giant Peach, Fantastic Mr Fox, Danny The Champion Of The World and The BFG.
Since shooting to fame as a curvaceous model in an industry of super-waifs, 30-year-old Dahl has turned her hand to writing and has published two books – a novella, The Man With The Dancing Eyes, and a full-length semi-autobiographical novel, Playing With The Grown-Ups.
Tickets for the talk, to be held at 18:00 on 22 January, cost £5 and can be purchased from Polka’s box office on 020 8543 4888
Polka’s production of The BFG runs until 9 January.
