Even more London theatregoers will have the chance to see the National Theatre’s Olivier Award-winning production of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time after the acclaimed adaptation extended its run to 13 February 2016.
The extension announcement follows the news that the Broadway production of Mark Haddon’s much-loved story has taken home a quintet of Tony Awards, the most prizes awarded to any play at last night’s star-studded ceremony.
The London production, which swept the board at the Olivier Awards 2013 with MasterCard, walking away with a whopping seven accolades, was previously booking at the Gielgud Theatre until 24 October.
Based on Haddon’s prize-winning novel, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time charts the story of 15-year-old Christopher as he ventures outside his comfort zone and embarks on a mission to discover who murdered his neighbour’s dog.
The page to stage adaptation currently stars Graham Butler as the teenage protagonist, but from 22 June former War Horse actor Sion Daniel Young will take on the lead role alongside a cast including Rebecca Lacey, Mary Stockley, Jacqueline Clarke, Indra Ove and Stephen Beckett. Current cast members Nicholas Tennant, Mark Rawlings and Penelope McGhie continue in their roles.
Adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time features direction from Marianne Elliott, set and video designs by Bunny Christie and Finn Ross, and lighting design by Paule Constable, all of whom took home one of US theatre’s most coveted prizes at the 69th annual Tony Awards ceremony last night.
