Comedians Phil Cornwell and Rhona Croker will join the cast of Nicholas Hynter’s hugely successful One Man, Two Guvnors at the Theatre Royal Haymarket this September.
The pair will replace current cast members Gerard Horan and Hannah Spearritt from 3 September, joining the show’s West End company Owain Arthur, Jodie Prenger, Martin Barrass, David Benson, Nigel Betts, Derek Elroy, Daniel Ings, Ben Mansfield and Gemma Whelan in Richard Bean’s award-winning hit.
Actor, comedian and writer Cornwell is best known for the BBC’s Stella Street, which he co-wrote and starred in, and boasts numerous other screen credits including Dead Ringers, I Am Alan Partridge, Doctor Who and The Glam Metal Detectives. On stage the actor was most recently seen in the Royal Court’s acclaimed drama In Basildon and the venue’s Olivier Award-nominated The Village Bike.
Croker will play his onstage daughter, the intellectually challenged Pauline. Also best known for her comedic performances, the actress first came to public attention with her double act touring show Croker & Jory: The Love Shepherds. On stage she has appeared in Spyski at the Lyric Hammersmith and boasts screen credits including The Wrong Door, My Family and the recent blockbuster Prometheus.
Following the 2011 National Theatre premiere of Bean’s comedy about a man motivated almost entirely by food in the troublesome situation of having to keep two small time crooks happy, the show has gone from success to success, transferring into the West End, playing a run on Broadway and embarking on a UK tour. 2013 will also see the show play a world tour.
One Man, Two Guvnors is currently booking until 12 January at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
