Following two sell-out performances last month, Grease 2 tribute concert Cool Rider will return to the West End for a week of romantic motorcycle rides and sing-along sex education classes in April.
The cult musical sequel will ride into the Duchess Theatre from 15 to 19 April with former Wicked performer Ashleigh Gray and Loserville’s Aaron Sidwell reprising their roles as the two unlikely lovers, Stephanie and Michael.
Featuring all of the film’s catchy numbers, from Who’s That Guy? to Girl For All Seasons, and capturing the infamous style from possibly the most well-known fictional high school ever, Cool Rider is described as a “homage to the film’s sheer brilliance (and shortcomings) with many surprises along the way”.
The show originally played two performances in a one-night engagement at the Lyric Theatre in January, with Gray and Sidwell joined by cast members including Reece Shearsmith, Nadine Cox and Evelyn Hoskins. It was described by Broadway World as “Beyond triumphant”, while the Gay Times declared the “inventive” show should be “a permanent fixture in the West End”.
Further casting for the forthcoming week-long run of the Guy Unsworth-directed concert is to be announced.
