Christopher Colquhoun, Penny Layden, Richard Mylan and Eileen Walsh will star in the world premiere of Bryony Lavery’s new play The Believers, staged by Frantic Assembly, which plays at the Tricycle theatre in April 2014.
The new piece, written by the playwright behind the UK Theatre Award-winning Frozen and Wolff-Whiting Award-winning Stockholm, finds two families flung together due to horrendous weather. Worn out and fuelled by alcohol they wrestle with their differences until, with suspicion growing, they turn on each other.
Colquhoun, who is best known as Casualty’s Dr Simon Kaminski, was most recently seen on the London stage in the Menier Chocolate Factory’s acclaimed production of The Color Purple, while Layden appeared in the recent production of Edward II at the National Theatre.
Both Mylan and Walsh make returns to Frantic Assembly, having previously appeared in Peepshow and Tiny Dynamite.
Prior to its run at Kilburn’s Tricycle theatre, The Believers will play at the Theatre Royal Plymouth, Warwick Arts Centre and the Curve Leicester.
