Tim Rice’s musical adaptation of From Here To Eternity will be broadcast to more than 250 cinemas across the UK this summer.
On 3 July fans of the Tamara Harvey-directed production or those who missed the show’s six month run at the Shaftesbury Theatre will be able to watch the moving musical brought to life on the big screen in the Fathom Events and Omniverse Vision co-production.
Making its world premiere in October last year, From Here To Eternity retold James Jones’ famous novel about soldiers stationed in Hawaii in 1941. Taking place just before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the story centres on the men in G Company and their illicit love affairs, all set against a backdrop of impending war.
Featuring songs by West End debut composer Stuart Brayson and innovative choreography by Javier De Frutos, the cast, who were filmed over two performances for the cinema presentation, included Darius Campbell, Siubhan Harrison, Robert Lonsdale, Rebecca Thornhill and Ryan Sampson.
The big screen presentation will also include a tour of the historic West End venue and an interview with the show’s lyricist and legendary theatremaker Rice.
Speaking about the release, Rice said: “I am delighted that our ambitious musical version of this magnificent story is going to be available to cinemas across the UK. It’s an epic tale with a score to match so it’s fantastic that our version will get a big screen release.”
