Charity Wakefield, Bryan Dick, Rebecca Grant and Oliver Hembrough will play four aspiring writers mentored by Roger Allam’s cantankerous Leonard in the Hampstead Theatre production of Seminar this autumn.
The quintet of performers will be directed by Terry Johnson in the production that has already proved so popular that extra dates have been added to its run. The show, which begins its run on 25 September, is now playing until 1 November.
Wakefield, who will soon be seen playing Mary Boleyn in the BBC adaptation of Wolf Hall, returns to the Hampstead Theatre, where she previously appeared in productions of The Blackest Black and No Naughty Bits.
Grant, who may be best known as Holby City’s Daisha Anderson, returns to the London stage following performances in Wah Wah Girls and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, while Dick, who played Ernie Wise in the acclaimed TV drama Eric And Ernie, boasts stage credits including Tinderbox at the Bush Theatre and Amadeus at the Sheffield Crucible.
Hembrough reunites with Johnson after appearing in the director’s production of Oh What a Lovely War at Theatre Royal Stratford East.
Theresa Rebeck’s comedy of ambition and lust follows four would-be wordsmith’s as they vie for the approval of their unorthodox tutor.
