Chariots Of Fire extends Olympic spirit

First Published 7 September 2012, Last Updated 7 September 2012

The country has been gripped in Olympic fever all summer and people are clearly not willing to let go of the sporting excitement with the news that Chariots Of Fire has extended its run to 2 February.

Edward Hall’s critically acclaimed hit had been booking until November, with the show originally planning a limited West End run following a gold medal start at Hampstead theatre earlier this year. The producers have cited “overwhelming public demand” as the reason the show will now play at the Gielgud theatre into 2013.

Adapted from the original screenplay from the legendary Academy Award-winning film by playwright Mike Bartlett, Chariots Of Fire takes the remarkable true story of Olympic heroes Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams and places it on stage in a truly immersive stadium experience with a radical set by Miriam Buether.

Featuring the iconic music of Vangelis, as well as new material by Tony Award-winner Jason Carr, Chariots Of Fire stars James McArdle and Jack Lowden as the pair of inspirational athletes.
