Cate Blanchett, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Dame Anna Wintour will be co-hosts of the 63rd London Evening Standard Theatre Awards, it has been announced.
The evening will be hosted by the newspaper’s owner Evgeny Lebedev, with American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Wintour, alongside international star Blanchett and Hamilton creator and original star Miranda, named as co-hosts.
Also announced today is the presenter of the 2017 Awards ceremony, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, writer and star of the award-winning play Fleabag, now a hit BBC television series.
Blanchett can currently be seen in Julian Rosefeldt’s Manifesto, showing at the BFI London Film Festival this October and will appear in Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok next month. In 2018, Blanchett will be featured in the films Where’d You Go Bernadette, Ocean’s 8 and The House With A Clock In Its Wall.
Miranda wrote the music, lyrics and book for Hamilton, the hit hip-hop musical he also starred in on Broadway, about one of America’s Founding Fathers. Hamilton has been the hottest ticket on Broadway, where it won 11 Tony Awards, and an unprecedented 100,000 fans pre-registered for tickets for the London run which begins in December 2017 with the reopening at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
The 2017 Evening Standard Theatre Awards are to take place on Sunday 3 December. The shortlist for the awards will be announced in November.
