The Almeida Theatre has announced the full cast that will join award-winning US actor and director David Cromer in the transfer of his New York hit production of Our Town.
Joining the multi-talented Cromer in Thornton Wilder’s iconic play are Royal Court regular Daniel Kendrick, RSC performer Rhashan Stone and Matilda The Musical’s Annette McLaughlin, alongside stage regulars Paul Bigley, Sidney Cole, Kate Dickie, Laura Elsworthy, Anna Francolini, Matthew Jacobs-Morgan, Simon Lennon, Richard Lumsden, Christopher Staines and David Walmsley.
Completing the cast are a trio of young actors; Michael Ajao and Jessica Lester, who make their stage debuts in the production, and Arthur Byrne, whose credits include Oliver! and Matilda The Musical.
Playing from 10 October to 29 November, Our Town tells the story of two people who fall in love, marry and live out their lives against the backdrop of a small American town. It makes its UK premiere at the Almeida following Cromer’s critically acclaimed 2009 production that ran for a year at the Barrow Street Theatre in New York.
While Our Town may boast a relatively large cast, Cromer’s award-winning production won plaudits for its intimate style and will once again be performed on a bare stage with minimal props.
The play will follow London Road’s Alecky Blythe’s new verbatim play Little Revolution (3 September to 4 October) into the Islington venue.
