Susannah Harker and Claire Price are to join Joanne Froggatt and Christopher Simpson in the Bush theatre‘s Schools Season, while Sharon Duncan Brewster and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (pictured) are set to appear in the world premiere of Nina Raine’s Tiger Country at the Hampstead theatre.
Harker, Price, Froggatt and Simpson lead the cast of the Schools Season, which runs from 12 January to 19 February and features two new plays, John Donnelly’s The Knowledge and Steve Waters’s Little Platoons. The season aims to explore the education system with pieces about life at a failing school and a group of parents starting their own free school in West London.
Harker, whose credits include Lucky Seven (Hampstead theatre) and On The Shore Of The Wide World (National Theatre), will appear solely in Little Platoons, as will London regular Price. They are joined in the season’s cast by Andrew Woodall, whose extensive list of National Theatre credits includes Much Ado About Nothing, The Voysey Inheritance and Women Beware Women, and Richard Henders, who received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for his performance in Pacific Overtures. The cast is completed by Joe Cole, Kerron Darby, Holli Dempsey, Mandheep Dillon and Otto Farrant.
Raine’s Tiger Country, which runs at the Hampstead theatre from 13 January to 5 February, examines life at a different institution, a London hospital.
Its cast features Duncan-Brewster, whose list of credits includes Category B, Detaining Justice, Seize The Day and Let There Be Love at Kilburn’s influential Tricycle theatre, and rising star Lloyd-Hughes, who may be best known as the In-betweeners’s Mark Donovan, but is quietly building a collection of impressive reviews for his theatrical work including Punk Rock and Posh.
Pip Carter and Adam James, who previously worked together on the National Theatre production of Gethsemane, also join the cast, along with David Cann, Ruth Everett, Thusitha Jayasundera, Joan Kempson, Maggie McCarthy, Nicolas Tennant and Harvey Virdi.
