Casting has been announced for the premiere of Alexi Kaye Campbell’s forthcoming drama Bracken Moor, which will play at the Tricycle theatre as a co-production with acclaimed theatre company Shared Experience.
Directed by Polly Teale, who is Artistic Director of the company that has previously staged successful versions of Mary Shelley and Brontë at the Kilburn venue, Bracken Moor will star Antony Byrne, Daniel Flynn, Natalie Gavin, Helen Schlesinger, Simon Shepherd, Joseph Timms and Sarah Woodward.
Playing from 6 June, the tale of grief and denial is set in 1930s Yorkshire and tells the story of two families who come together after years of separation to rediscover their lost friendship. As they attempt to move forward, however, they are plunged into a terrifying encounter with the past and must struggle to make sense of the extraordinary events that unfold before their eyes.
Bracken Moor will mark the theatrical debut of The Syndicate’s Natalie Gavin, while her fellow company members are all London stage regulars.
Schlesinger was last on stage in Fireface at the Young Vic, as well as recent appearances in Blue/Orange at the Arcola theatre and The Stone at the Royal Court, where co-star Shepherd, who is arguably best known for his long-running role in Holby City, appeared in Posh and Woodward was seen in Love And Information and Jumpy.
Former The Bill star Flynn and Timms boast credits in 55 Days at the Hampstead theatre and The Taming Of The Shrew at Shakespeare’s Globe respectively and appeared on stage together in Richard II at the Donmar Warehouse.
Completing the cast, Byrne is a regular performer with the Royal Shakespeare Company and has also appeared in On The Waterfront in the West End and in Skellig at the Young Vic.
Bracken Moor will play following the Lia Williams-directed production of Frank McGuinness’ The Match Box, which will open the Tricycle’s summer season when it begins previews early next month.
