David Bedella, Josie Benson and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt will reprise their roles in the forthcoming transfer of In The Heights when it opens at the King’s Cross Theatre in October.
The trio, who appeared in the show’s London premiere at Southwark Playhouse earlier this year, will be joined by a handful of fellow returning cast members alongside newcomers including former Sugababe Jade Ewen from 3 October to 1 November.
Olivier Award winner Bedella will reprise his role as Kevin following his forthcoming performance in The Rocky Horror Show later this month. Benson, whose West End credits include the Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton-led production of Sweeney Todd will reprise her role as Camila, while A Chorus Line’s Hamilton-Barritt will play Daniela.
They will be reunited with three other members of the Southwark Playhouse cast, as Sam Mackay, Sarah Naudi and Eve Polycarpou also return to the uplifting Washington Heights-set musical tale.
Joining Ewen, who was last seen on the London stage in The Gershwins’ Porgy And Bess at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, are a host of new cast members including Lily Frazer (Les Misérables, West End), Antoine Murray-Straughan (Cats, West End), Joe Aaron Reid (Ghost The Musical, Broadway) and Cleve September (The Last Days Of Troy, Shakespeare’s Globe).
Completing the cast are Jocasta Almgill, Courtney-Mae Briggs, Michael Cortez, Gabriela Garcia, Reiss Hinds, Alexandra Sarmiento and Spin.
Featuring music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda with choreography by Bugsy Malone’s Drew McOnie, In The Heights takes audiences on a journey into one of Manhattan’s most vibrant communities where the coffee is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music.
The Tony Award-winning musical tale of a community on the brink of change will play in rep at the King’s Cross Theatre alongside current hit The Railway Children, which is booking at the venue until January 2016.
