In a hugely exciting week for London plays, chalk up another one on the list of “must-sees”! Wendell Pierce will make his UK stage debut alongside Sharon D Clarke and Arinzé Kene in Death Of A Salesman at the Young Vic – and Marianne Elliott will co-direct.
The starring trio will also be joined by Ian Bonar, Trevor Cooper, Martins Imhangbe, Joseph Mydell, Nenda Neurer, Jennifer Saayeng, Matthew Seadon-Young and Maggie Service when Death Of A Salesman begins performances from 1 May.
Olivier and Award-winning Elliott will co-direct the production with Miranda Cromwell, who worked with her as Associate Director on Company and Angels In America.
Arthur Miller’s influential play, which has won three Tony Awards for Best Revival in its history, centres on a travelling salesman, Willy, who struggles to rise above a life of mediocrity, and whose memories form the fulcrum of the story.
And with Pierce (best known for roles in Suits, The Wire and Treme) starring as Willy Loman, Clarke (Caroline, Or Change) as Linda Loman, and Kene (Misty) as Biff Loman, Death Of A Salesman is yet another exciting proposition for Elliott & Harper Productions, who co-produce with the Young Vic and Cindy Tolan.
The show will run in the Young Vic’s Main House from 1 May until 29 June, with tickets available through the venue’s website.
