Former Hollyoaks star Carley Stenson will return to the stage this summer to star in Tony Award-nominated playwright Neil LaBute’s Some Girl(s) at the Park Theatre.
The role marks a new challenge for Stenson, as she follows numerous critically acclaimed musical theatre appearances in West End shows including Spamalot, Shrek The Musical and Legally Blonde to tackle straight theatre and LaBute’s characteristic dark wit.
The black comedy will be staged in the Park Theatre’s intimate PARK90 space by the newly formed Buckland Theatre Company. Joining Stenson in the cast is Buckland’s Artistic Director Charles Dorfman, Elly Condron and Roxanne Pallet.
Dorfman will lead as Guy, a man desperate to clear his conscience before he gets married. A modern day parable of 21st century relationships, the husband-to-be sets off on a psychological and physical journey across America to make amends with four old flames.
Condron (Jane Eyre, National Theatre) and former Emmerdale star Pallet will join Stenson as three of the ex-girlfriends who find Guy on their doorsteps, with the final ex-beau still to be cast.
Some Girl(s) plays at the acclaimed Finsbury Park theatre from 14 July to 6 August and will be preceded by a series of free readings examining LaBute’s work, including his most famous plays Reasons To Be Pretty, Fat Pig and The Shape Of Things.
