Campbell Moore joins Photograph 51

Nicole Kidman will be joined by Chimerica actor Stephen Campbell Moore when she makes her long-awaited return to the London stage in Photograph 51 later this year.

The star of The History Boys will play Maurice Wilkins opposite the Hollywood superstar as Rosalind Franklin in the drama about the pioneering DNA scientist.

The production, directed by Olivier Award winner Michael Grandage, runs at the Noël Coward Theatre from 5 September.

In addition to award winners The History Boys and Chimerica, Campbell Moore boasts stage credits including Clybourne Park and All My Sons. His screen work includes Ashes To Ashes, The Wrong Mans and Our Zoo.

The UK premiere of Anna Ziegler’s drama, which brings Australian actress Kidman back to the London stage for the first time in more than 15 years, tells the story of the titular image and Franklin’s race against time to both see and understand it before rival scientists.

The Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye is reporting that the show’s full cast should be complete by the end of June.

Prior to Photograph 51’s autumn opening at the Noël Coward Theatre, the venue will host magical extravaganza Impossible. The befuddling and astonishing entertainment show brings together a handful of the world’s finest illusionists for an evening of mystification and wonder.

Impossible runs for a month from 24 July, following the venue’s current hit, the Royal Shakespeare Company production of Arthur Miller’s American classic Death Of A Salesman. The harrowing tragedy, which stars Sir Antony Sher, runs until 18 July.
