Ed Byrne has joined Ross Noble and Dylan Moran on the list of comedians bringing stand up comedy to the West End stage this autumn.
The Irish comedian, whose television work includes satirical panel show Mock The Week and stand up showcase Live At The Apollo, will perform his show Different Class at the Vaudeville theatre from 7 to 19 September.
Different Class was seen at the Edinburgh Festival in 2008, before playing a season at the Riverside Studios and embarking on a national tour. The show sees Byrne exercising his famed observational wit, taking aim at his inability to fit in with almost anyone; the youth of today, the old, the middle class or the working class.
As a comedian, Byrne has taken his act across the world, performing in the United States, Canada, France, Singapore, Australia, Belgium and New Zealand. He has also appeared in television sitcoms Father Ted and Sam’s Game.
Ed Byrne: Different Class follows Duet For One, the two-handed drama starring Juliet Stevenson and Henry Goodman which plays at the Vaudeville theatre until 1 August. The revival of Tom Kempinski’s play, which originated at the Almeida theatre, follows a series of consultations between a psychiatrist and his patient, a concert violinist forced to come to terms with the life-changing effects of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
