Kirsty Bushell and Hari Dhillon will lead the cast of Nadia Fall’s forthcoming production of Disgraced at the Bush theatre.
Ayad Akhtar’s play about ambition, culture and faith, which has already proved itself a Stateside hit, tells the story of corporate lawyer Amir Kapoor (Dhillon); happy, in love and about to land the biggest promotion of his career. But, beneath the veneer, success has come at a price and, when he hosts a dinner party with his wife Emily (Bushell), the friendly dinner-time conversation escalates into something far more damaging.
Returning to the Bush theatre following her performance in Josie Rourke’s 2008 production of 2,000 Feet Away, Bushell’s theatre credits include 13, Edgar And Annabel and Danton’s Death at the National Theatre, the RSC’s 2012 trilogy of Shakespeare’s shipwreck plays, and I Know How I Feel About Eve and Belongings at the Hampstead theatre.
Best known for his on screen roles in BBC medical drama Holby City and American television series Charmed, Dhillon has appeared on the London stage in productions including Mother Teresa Is Dead and Idiots at the Royal Court theatre.
Disgraced will play at the Bush theatre from 17 May to 22 June as part of an eclectic season, which includes new plays written by actors Rory Kinnear and Cush Jumbo.
