The London Palladium is set to be a visually spectacular wonderland of fun and amazement this winter as The Amazing Bubble Man gets set for a festive run at the iconic venue.
Louis Pearl’s bubble-fest will play daytime performances from 12 December to 4 January, filling the venue with every child’s favourite sparkly, spellbinding, soapy spheres before another show by the producer’s behind the bubble-tastic show, Barry Humphries’ Eat, Pray, Laugh!, takes to the stage for evening performances.
Having thrilled more than one million audience members across the world, Pearl arrives at the London Palladium at the end of a world tour that came about after he caught the eye of producer James Cundall, Chief Executive of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, during one of his many acclaimed runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
“I saw Louis Pearl’s Amazing Bubble Show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year and was absolutely mesmerised,” Cundall explained, adding: “I had no idea you could do so many astounding things with bubbles! I thought ‘if a producer with 20 years in the entertainment business can be blown away by bubbles then surely people all around the world will be amazed by this incredible show too’.”
As well as entertaining children and adults alike with mind-boggling bubble skills that include the creation of square bubbles, fog-filled bubbles, trampoline bubbles and even people inside bubbles, Pearl’s 75-minute show also brings science to life and offers plenty of chances for audiences to get involved with his spellbinding tricks.
The San Francisco-born entertainer, whose performance career unexpectedly started when he developed a bubble-making toy, spoke about his show, saying: “The kid in everybody gets excited. The audience connects with what’s happening onstage at a pre-verbal place. There’s so much joy.”
Ahead of The Amazing Bubble Man’s arrival, Lunchbox Theatrical Productions will co-present another family production at the London Palladium, the Keith Chegwin and Olga Sharutenko-led The Nutcracker On Ice, which plays from 25 October.
