Comedian and actor Rob Brydon is to culminate his current UK tour, Rob Brydon Live!, with a two week season at the Apollo theatre in May.
The star of television comedies including Gavin And Stacey, Marion And Geoff and the Keith Barret Show, plays the Shaftesbury Avenue venue from 11 to 23 May.
Originally a radio and television presenter for BBC Wales, Brydon’s big comedy break came with his self-penned series Marion And Geoff, in which he played taxi driver Keith Barret. The character proved so popular that, after two series, he was given his own comic chat show. Brydon has gone on to appear in films including A Cock And Bull Story and is a regular on the comic panel show circuit.
His live show finds him musing on pet topics including becoming a dad at 42, the horrors of home-birthing and his obsession with new and unnecessary gadgets. It also finds him in chatty mood, questioning the audience in a way that could take the show in any direction.
Brydon will become the third stand up comedian in the space of a year to play a season on Shaftesbury Avenue, following Eddie Izzard, who appeared at the Lyric theatre before Christmas, and Bill Bailey, whose show Tinselworm plays at the Gielgud theatre until 24 January.
Brydon’s season is preceded at the Apollo theatre by Three Days Of Rain, a drama exploring how the private worlds of one generation are reinterpreted by the next, which stars James McAvoy and Nigel Harman.
