Brazilian Rose joins RSC London offering

Two Roses For Richard III, a Brazilian spin on Shakespeare’s history plays, is the latest production to join the Royal Shakespeare Company’s line-up of London shows this summer.

The piece by Companhia Bufomecânica, which uses theatre, music, imagery and aerial skills to tell the story of Shakespeare’s plays, will run for six performances at the Roundhouse from 18 May, following a run at the RSC’s home in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Two Roses For Richard III is followed at the Camden venue by a trio of shows performed by an RSC ensemble cast – The Comedy Of Errors, Twelfth Night and The Tempest – collectively being called the What Country Friends Is This shipwreck trilogy.

Dates have also been announced for the RSC’s previously announced West End season at the Noël Coward theatre. Gregory Doran’s Africa-set Julius Caesar, which stars Ray Fearon and Paterson Joseph, will run from 8 August and will be followed from 22 September by Much Ado About Nothing starring Meera Syal. Further casting for this production is to be announced later in the year.
