National treasure Bonnie Langford will join the cast of 42nd Street, as the production announces it will depart Theatre Royal Drury Lane on Saturday 5 January 2019.
Langford, who can currently be seen in BBC’s Eastenders, and whose West End pedigree includes previous roles in Gypsy (at the age of 10), Chicago and the original London production of Cats, will play her first performance on Monday 3 September.
She will take on the role of Dorothy Brock, this week assumed by Steph Parry, who herself follows in the tap shoes of Lulu and Sheena Easton. Tom Lister continues as Julian Marsh, Clare Halse as Peggy Sawyer, and Ashley Day as Billy Lawlor.
The casting marks a return to the scene of Langford’s theatrical debut; she first performed on-stage in Gone With The Wind at Theatre Royal Drury Lane at the tender age of seven.

Following the conclusion of 42nd Street’s run on 5 January, the previously announced refurbishment of Theatre Royal Drury Lane will commence.
The Olivier Award-nominated 42nd Street opened in the West End on Tuesday 4 April 2017, in the presence of HRH The Duchess of Cambridge. Winning widespread acclaim for its burst of dazzle, romance and tap-tastic choreography, the production has been seen by almost one million people, and recently celebrated its 500th performance.
The show includes an all-singing, all-dancing cast of over 50, with some of the most memorable show tunes in town, including We’re In The Money, Lullaby Of Broadway and, of course, 42nd Street.

42nd Street is also participating in Kids Week; throughout August, a child aged 16 or under can go free when accompanied by an adult paying full price. Adults can also purchase up to two extra children’s tickets at half price, and there are no booking fees to pay.
