Conor McPherson’s critically acclaimed musical Girl From The North Country, which features the music and lyrics of Bob Dylan, is returning to the West End this festive season.
Playing a limited run at the Gielgud Theatre between 10 December 2019 and 1 February 2020, the show’s cast will include Katie Brayben (an Olivier Award winner for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) as Elizabeth Laine, Donald Sage Mackay (True West, West End) as Nick Laine, Gloria Obianyo (Jesus Christ Superstar, Regent’s Park) as Marianne Laine, Colin Bates (Billy Elliot, West End) as Gene Laine, and Rachel John (Olivier-nominated for Hamilton) as Mrs Neilsen.
The cast of Girl From The North Country will also include Daniel Bailey (Ensemble), Anna Jane Casey (Mrs Burke), Nicholle Cherrie (Ensemble), David Ganly (Mr Burke), Simon Gordon (Ensemble), Steffan Harri (Elias Burke), David Haydn (Ensemble), Sidney Kean (Mr Perry), Finbar Lynch (Reverend Marlowe), Ferdy Roberts (Dr Walker), Wendy Somerville (Ensemble), Gemma Sutton (Katherine Draper), Shaq Taylor (Joe Scott) and Alan Vicary (Ensemble).
The hit musical, which received 5 Olivier Award nominations in 2018 (winning 2: Best Actress in a Musical for Shirley Henderson, and Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Sheila Atim), continues to go from strength-to-strength.
Having originally opened at The Old Vic in 2017, Girl From The North Country subsequently transferred to the West End’s Noël Coward Theatre at the end of the year. It then opened at the Public Theater, New York, in 2018. The production is due to enjoy a run at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, Toronto, opening 28 September 2019, prior to opening up on Broadway in March 2020.
