Brian Blessed will lend his thunderous tones to family festive offering The Snow Gorilla at Kingston’s Rose theatre this Christmas.
The larger than life actor will be heard but not seen among a cast including Grace & Favour star Joanna Heyward, War Horse’s Dominic Leeder, The Bodyguard’s Nicolas Maude, actor and TV presenter Ciaran Joyce (Torchwood) and Lucy Hope-Borne (An Evening Of Dirty Dancing).
Playing at the venue from 29 November to 5 January, The Snow Gorilla follows Sunny as he runs away to experience the spectacular sights and sweet sounds of the circus. But as he begins to be accepted into the eccentric family of performers, he stumbles upon a dark secret and a mysterious figure threatens to spoil Sunny’s newfound happiness.
Billed as “a hugely entertaining spectacle for the whole family”, The Snow Gorilla will make use of the Rose theatre’s circular auditorium to create a world of magic, storytelling and circus acts that will enable audiences to escape this Christmas.
The forthcoming show, which is produced in collaboration with family-run company Bor Productions, isn’t the only show to feature a family-friendly furry ape this Christmas, with Polka theatre welcoming Gorilla, the tale of a little girl’s stuffed toy who comes to life and takes her on a moonlit adventure, through its doors next month.
