Today is International Friendship day, so we’re taking some time to hold up our favourite on-stage friendships! Romantic love often gets the spotlight, but your friends are the ones who are there through thick and thin. Here are some of the best besties of the West End – who’s your favourite?
Kristoff & Sven – Frozen
Who wouldn’t want a best friend that’s a reindeer?? The fact that Sven and Kristoff can communicate without words – and Sven doesn’t have a problem nudging Kristoff in the right direction – makes their friendship all the cuter.
Donna & The Dynamos – Mamma Mia
Don’t we all dream of having friends like Tanya and Rosie? Since uni, they’ve stuck by Donna through thick and thin and are incredibly supportive friends to not only her but her daughter too. Plus, surely they’re the best karaoke team.
The whole of the Choir Of Man
The whole of the Choir Of Man is full of male friendships at their finest. Supportive, emotionally open and unconditional – in the time they’re on stage we see them looking out for each other and encouraging each other to look after themselves, accompanied of course with a whole pinch full of light-hearted ribbing.
Juliet & May – & Juliet
Juliet and May’s relationship is one of mutual support, unconditional love and understanding. But with loads of ‘oh my god!’s. Though the slightly more adult influence of Nurse and Anne Hathaway is helpful to keep them on a slightly sensible path, the relationship is the best friend love we all wish we had as teenagers. Get you a bestie who will run away to Paris with you at the drop of a hat.
Timon & Pumbaa – The Lion King
For anyone who grew up in the 90s, Timon and Pumbaa are absolute bestie goals. Funny, loud and bouncing off each others humour, you just know they’d be great value at the pub. If they weren’t a meerkat and a warthog, that is. But we’ve all got to have friends we can be our loud, gross, silly selves around!
So all that’s left to do is grab your best friends and book to see one of these amazing shows!
