Laurence Olivier Award-winning actor David Bedella is to join the cast of long-running musical Chicago as the unscrupulous lawyer Billy Flynn for a limited 10-week run.
Bedella joins current cast members Sarah Soetaert, Lisa Donmall, Victor McGuire and Russell Whitehead in Bob Fosse’s iconic musical from 28 February to 8 May.
The American actor made his name on the London stage with his Laurence Olivier Award-winning performance as Satan in the controversial 2003 production of Jerry Springer The Opera. His other West End credits include The Rocky Horror Show and he starred in Chess at the Royal Albert Hall. On screen he has appeared in Alexander and Batman Begins, and on television in the BBC’s hospital drama Holby City.
Packed full of fishnets, crime and deceit, Chicago is the slick and sexy musical that tells the story of wannabe star Roxie Hart. When she finds herself in prison for shooting her lover, lawyer Billy Flynn promises her fame and fortune much to the annoyance of Velma Kelly who is not used to sharing the spotlight.
The popular musical has also announced it has extended its booking period to 29 January 2012, taking the show into its 15th year on the London stage.
