Be an opera singer for the day

First Published 9 June 2008, Last Updated 9 June 2008

English National Opera is offering families the chance to experience a day in the life of an opera singer with a workshop on 22 June.

During the session, which lasts one hour and 15 minutes, participants can get a taste of what it is like to be an opera singer at the London Coliseum.

A vocal coach, director and wardrobe staff will be on hand to take participants through the process, from warming-up the vocal chords to getting into costume and preparing to perform. The session ends with the chance to step onto the Coliseum stage and experience the thrill of performing.

The event is suitable for children aged 6 to 14 and every child must be accompanied by an adult, who will be expected to take part!

Four sessions are being held on Sunday 22 June at 09:30, 10:00, 12:00 and 12:30. Tickets cost £4 per person. For more information and to book, call the London Coliseum box office on 0871 472 0800.

The event is organised by ENO Baylis, the education arm of English National Opera.
