Party, the Fringe First-winning satire from if.comedy Best Newcomer Tom Basden, will bring political comedy to the Arts theatre this spring.
Running for a limited season from 1 to 13 March, Party is the story of four young idealists who have formed a new political party to save the world from itself. Duncan, the party’s new fifth member, sets about saving the world from them.
Basden, who both wrote and stars in Party, won the if.comedy Best Newcomer Award at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival for his show Tom Basden Won’t Say Anything. He is a member of the four-man comedy group Cowards along with fellow Party cast member Tim Key, Lloyd Woolf and Stefan Golaszewski, whose own show, The Stefan Golaszewski Plays, played at the Bush theatre during the Christmas period.
Basden and Key are joined in the cast of Party by Anna Crilly, who is best know for playing Eastern European housekeeper Magda in BBC3 sitcom Lead Balloon, Not Going Out and Torchwood star Katy Wix, and Jonny Sweet.
Prior to Party’s run at the Arts theatre, the venue hosts Daisy Pulls It Off (19 January to 6 February), the 1920s-set tale of a schoolgirl who won’t let her bullying classmates stop her from triumphing against the odds.
