Wandsworth’s BAC is pulling out all the stops for families this Christmas with a brand new interactive show for children aged 6-11 and an indoor ‘social space’ for younger kids.
The Great Escape (A Borrower’s Tale) is an adventurous new show based on Mary Norton’s famous tale of small people living under the floorboards, The Borrowers. Children are invited to take part in an intriguing mission through the BAC to uncover evidence of Bob the Borrower and help him escape the evil clutches of the KBD (Keep Borrowers Down) movement. The piece has been developed over the past four years in conversation with pupils from BAC’s partner schools.
The show, which runs from 4 to 31 December, is fully supervised, meaning parents can spend time with any younger children in BAC’s brand new indoor entertainment space, The Bees Knees. Featuring slides, toys, books, beanbags and other playthings, this social area will have a daily programme of children’s storytelling, music performances and workshops from artists including award-winning comedian Will Adamsdale. A waiter service from the main café will deliver healthy baby food and keep parents fuelled with cappuccinos and home cooking. The Bees Knees is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00.
