Lucy Cohu, who won an International Emmy Award for her role in television drama Forgiven, is to join John Simm, Ian Hart and Kerry Fox in the autumn revival of Speaking In Tongues.
Cohu, who also received International Emmy and BAFTA Award nominations for her performance as Princess Margaret in The Queen’s Sister, plays the dual roles of a therapist whose disappearance sparks an investigation and the wife of the investigating detective, in Andrew Bovell’s thriller.
Speaking In Tongues, which was adapted for film and renamed Lantana in 2001, uses confessionals, interrogations and split-screen scenes to explore nine parallel lives. The seemingly random confessions of a group of strangers are pieced together by Detective Leon Zat (Simm), resulting in a powerful study of infidelity and interwoven lives.
Cohu was most recently seen playing Alice Carter in the latest series of hit BBC sci-fi drama Torchwood. Her other television credits include Einstein And Eddington, Ballet Shoes and Soldier Soldier, while her films include Becoming Jane and Gosford Park.
Speaking In Tongues opens at the Duke of York’s theatre in September, following the successful revival of Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, which opened in May.
