The Lyric Hammersmith is taking theatre out of the auditorium and into the Lyric Square this summer with a series of free shows from a quintet of innovative companies.
Curious Directive, Les Enfants Terribles, RashDash, Tangled Feet and Nabokov will all be performing experiential pieces in the great outdoors in front of the Lyric Hammersmith between 12 June and 5 July, with a variety of theatrical treats on offer.
Throughout the entire season, Curious Directive is offering one-on-one experience Olfactory, which uses scent to give single audience members the chance to ‘craft their identity’.
From 12 to 14 June, Les Enfants Terribles invites audiences to a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with a twist, while between 19 and 21 June, RashDash uses music, physicality and mess to take on the To Do list. Between 26 and 28 June, Tangled Feet attempts to solve the recession and understand currency trading by using a bouncy castle. Nabokov finishes the season from 3 to 5 July with a combination of theatrical narrative and live gig, bringing together the work of emerging playwrights Ella Hickson, Nick Payne and Tom Wells with the music of Ed Gaughan.
In addition to bringing some alfresco entertainment to Hammersmith, the shows from the Theatre In The Square season can also be seen as part of Imagine Watford (21, 22, 28 & 29 June), the Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (23 & 24 June) and the Latitude Festival (12 to 15 July).
