Audience Award 2016: The Railway Children

First Published 4 March 2016, Last Updated 11 March 2016

“Daddy, my Daddy”; three words guaranteed to bring tears to the eyes of all but the hardest hearted reader, film watcher or, in the case of the London stage, audience member.

Don’t know what I mean? Then you really need to see The Railway Children. The story of a family separated from their mysteriously removed father and relocated to rural Yorkshire has now been in and around London since 2010, enthralling audiences with its classic storytelling and real steam train.

But it can boast more than a 60 tonne locomotive. It already has a sparkly bronze Olivier Award to its name for a start. The family drama picked up the statuette back in 2011, triumphing in the Best Entertainment category.

This year it has the chance to win another in the publicly voted Magic Radio Audience Award. Current Mr Perks Shaun Williamson – that’s right, Barry from EastEnders – told us why it deserves your support.

The Railway Children is booking at King’s Cross Theatre to 30 October. You can book tickets through us here.

Voting for the Magic Radio Audience Award has now closed.
