Cameron Mackintosh’s legendary production of Boublil and Schönberg’s adaptation of the revolution epic has now been playing in London for more than 30 years and has been seen by a staggering 70 million people worldwide. To put that into context, that’s roughly five million more people than the entire population of the UK!
Its success has been demonstrated throughout Olivier Awards history. Patti LuPone was awarded the coveted Best Actress in a Musical Award for originating the role of Fantine in 1985, and the show has won the Audience Award twice in 2012 and 2014.
