Arlene Phillips brings together Gala For Grenfell

First Published 7 July 2017, Last Updated 7 July 2017

In a production imagined and directed by Arlene Phillips CBE and supported by Target Live, stars from across the world of dance will unite at London’s Adelphi Theatre to raise relief funds for those whose lives have been seriously affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

Taking place on Sunday 30 July, Gala For Grenfell will feature exciting performances from leading dancers and dance companies, including The Royal Ballet (featuring Edward Watson), Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, The Mariinsky Ballet (featuring Xander Parish), Ballet Black, Rambert, and ZooNation.

The star-studded event will also feature performances from stars from Strictly Come Dancing, Adam Garcia, Rina Kanehara and Aitor Arrieta (Winners of English National Ballet’s Emerging Dancer 2017), Danny Collins and Rachel Muldoon (performing Drew McOnie’s choreography from 2016’s Jekyll & Hyde at the Old Vic), Tommy Franzen and Xena Gusthart, and Jonny Labey and Chrissie Brooke (Dance Dance Dance champions).

Gala For Grenfell has been organised by Arlene Phillips CBE, Graham Watts OBE and Guy Chapman for Target Live to provide emergency relief funding to support the many people whose lives were seriously affected by the tragic fire in North Kensington.

Arlene Phillips said of the event: “I remember waking up in the morning and thinking ‘here goes another day’, only to switch on the TV to watch the news and suddenly see an image so powerful you can’t move, knowing so many lives have been changed forever.”

“As the days went by I began to wonder if there was a way that I could help, maybe even make a small difference, and I thought dance is my world, my life, so how could I galvanise and bring the dance community together to raise funds for those who need it most, now and into the future.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased here. Donations can also be made here.
