Heart DJ and former CBBC presenter Toby Anstis is to join the cast of Grease in the role of Teen Angel from 25 January.
Anstis, who makes his West End stage debut in the show, currently presents a morning radio show on Heart. After making his name as the occupant of The Broom Cupboard on children’s BBC during the early 1990s, Anstis went on to present television shows including The Ozone, Electric Circus and Live And Kicking. He has also co-hosted Children In Need and took part in ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! in 2006.
Anstis joins Grease alongside the already announced Siobhan Dillon, who takes on the lead role of Sandy. The role of Danny will continue to be played by former Hear’Say singer Noel Sullivan.
Grease has been playing at the Piccadilly theatre since 2007, after returning to the West End on the back of accompanying ITV talent contest Grease Is The Word, which cast the show’s original leads.
The 1972 musical is set in 1950s America and follows the lives and loves of the graduating class of Rydell High, specifically the tumultuous relationship between new girl Sandy and T-bird leader Danny. The well-known score includes the songs Hopelessly Devoted To You, Summer Nights and You’re The One That I Want.
