“Your skin oughtn’t to curl – ought it – when he just comes near you – ought it? That’s wrong, ain’t it? You don’t get over that, do you – ever, do you or do you?”
The city. A woman is restless. A woman is suffocating. A woman is silenced…. The woman revolts. Machinal is based on Treadwell’s 1928 play, inspired by the real-life case of convict Ruth Snyder.
Abrahami directs. She was previously Associate Director at the Young Vic from 2013-2016, where her credits included Wings, Ah, Wilderness!, Happy Days and After Miss Julie.
Machinal plays at the Almeida Theatre from Monday 4 June – Saturday 21 July 2018.
Tickets can be purchased through the Almeida Theatre website.
