There are more passengers getting on board with the cast of The Girl On The Train, as Alex Ferns, Marc Elliott and Philip McGinley join the London performances.

Alex will be playing the role of Detective Inspector Gaskill, Marc will be Dr Kamal Abdic, and Philip will play Scott Hipwell.

You may recognise both Alex and Marc from their time in Albert Square, when they played the roles of Trevor Morgan and Syed Masood respectively in Eastenders for several years. Alex has also recently appeared in the critically acclaimed HBO TV series, Chernobyl, as well as onstage (also opposite Samantha Womack) in the musical South Pacific.

Marc has also appeared in Holby City as Dr Isaac Mayfield, and has appeared on stage in several productions, including The History Boys and Urinetown The Musical.

Phillip has recently appeared in Game Of Thrones, as well as Vera: Blood and Bones and Manhunt on ITV. His West End credits include Marianne Elliott’s production of Husbands and Sons at the National Theatre.

The talented trio will co-star alongside Samantha Womack, who plays Rachel Watson, who’s trying to solve a dark mystery during her commute. Based on the internationally best-selling book by Paula Hawkins (which was also turned into a hit film), the story follows Rachel, who watches a perfect couple’s life unfold through a train window every day. But when the woman she’s been watching suddenly disappears, Rachel realises she could be a witness to something huge, and she faces much bigger revelations than she could have possibly imagined.

Alex said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the cast of The Girl on the Train in the West End, and I’m particularly looking forward to working with Samantha Womack again.  The play captures the intensity of a story so beautifully captured by Emily Blunt in the original film.  This is going to be captivating for a live audience. Sam is such an exceptional actor, audiences are in for an absolute treat!”

The full cast for the run at the Duke of York’s Theatre is:  Samantha Womack (Rachel Watson), Alex Ferns (D.I. Gaskill), Kirsty Oswald (Megan Hipwell), Philip McGinley (Scott Hipwell), Adam Jackson-Smith (Tom Watson),  Lowenna Melrose (Anna Watson), Marc Elliott (Kamal Abdic), Matt Concannon (ensemble) and Phillipa Flynn (ensemble).

Currently on a UK tour, the show will stop in the West End for a strictly limited run, before continuing across the country. John Dougall, Oliver Farnworth and Naeem Hayat will continue to play the roles of D.I. Gaskill, Scott Hipwell and Kamal Abdic on tour.

The Girl On The Train will run at the Duke of York’s Theatre from 23 July to 17 August 2019. Tickets are available now.
