Actress and presenter Donna Air is to appear in psychological drama The Watcher at Waterloo East theatre from 8 March to 2 April.
Jeremy Paul’s drama centres on a woman sunbathing alone in a park. When a stranger approaches her, an uneasy power struggle is set in motion.
Air is a former child actor who starred in popular children’s drama Byker Grove. Since then she has presented shows including The Big Breakfast and appeared in television dramas Hotel Babylon and Supply And Demand. Her acting work has also included film The Mummy Returns and a stage appearance in The Vagina Monologues.
The Watcher plays at Waterloo East theatre as part of a spring line-up that also comprises Dario Fo’s Accidental Death Of An Anarchist and a season of four plays in repertoire performed by one company of actors.
The WET REP season, which plays from 8 February to 4 March, features Anna Jordon’s Facebook-inspired play Bender, Jo Stokes’s one-woman comedy Laundry, Jonathan Bonfiglio’s political drama Tatchell and three short plays by Jordan under the banner ShortStuff.
Love&Madness’s production of Accidental Death Of An Anarchist plays for seven performances from 5 to 10 April. Fo’s satire is based on the case of an anarchist railway worker who was accused of bombing a bank and later ‘fell’ to his death from a police station window in 1969.
Launched in September 2010, Waterloo East theatre is a new space under a railway arch on Brad Street which presents work by visiting companies as well as its own productions. Prior to the new season, the venue presents one performance of Stephen De Martin’s musical cabaret Return To Oz on 29 January.
