Official London Theatre has two annual ticket promotions: Kids Week in the summer, and our New Year Sale in the Winter. We also bring you year-round discount tickets with our last minute booth TKTS.
Our in-person ticket booth, TKTS, was originally known as 'The Half Price Ticket Booth'. The first booth was a small, wooden hut painted in green and yellow stripes, which stood on the West side of Leicester Square. It, in 1980, was the first ticket booth of its kind in Leicester Square, and has subsequently spawned many imitations. Following the installation of an electricity sub-station beneath the garden, Leicester Square was reopened by the Queen in 1992, and TKTS was welcomed to its new home in the Clocktower Building by the Mayor of Westminster. The Half Price Ticket Booth was renamed ‘TKTS' in 2001, adopting the name of its Broadway counterpart in New York. To this day, TKTS continues to provide fantastic in-person advice and assistance for Londoners and visitors looking to buy a theatre ticket.
Kids Week has been encouraging children and their families to experience the magic of live theatre since 1998. Originally just one week long, Kids Week has grown in popularity and now runs throughout the whole month of August. Kids Week is now the UK’s longest running theatre audience development initiative.
Our New Year Sale was launched in 2001 to encourage people to 'Get Into London Theatre', and has firmly established its place on the London theatre calendar. It gets bigger and better every year!
